Does the driver make change? No. We have a policy of exact fare only. This is another way to protect the driver and you. When you board the vehicle, simply place the fare into the blue farebox.
How do I receive a reduced fare?
Geauga County Transit participates in the Elderly and Disabled Program of the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Federal Transit Administration. This program permits transit systems to offer half-priced fares to those eligible. Each person who wishes to be considered for the half-priced fare elderly and disabled program must complete an application available from the Geauga County Transit office. The documentation required for persons 65 years of age or older includes a COPY of a drivers license, birth certificate or state issued ID card. The documentation required for disabled persons to be eligible will include SSI or Social Security Disability determination letters, written documentation from a physician, or other health care professional indicating that the person meets the criteria established by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Why is it important to cancel trips if I don't need them? Geauga County Transit has been experiencing increased ridership each year, and if you schedule a trip that you don't need, you are taking away the ability of someone else to use the system. Remember to be considerate of everyone, if you do not need the trip just call us and cancel so we then can use the seat for another rider.
Can I make extra stops? Yes, however, but each additional 5 minute stop will be an extra $.50. To help reduce this extra charge, simple inform the Reservation Agent when you call that you need to make extra stops.
What if I can not afford the trip? If you need financial assistance, we can help. We have a reduced fare program for seniors and for riders with impairments. Or we can direct you to an agency that may be able to provide for fare. Call us and we will help,
Can I buy passes? Yes. Call our office and we will help. You can buy a pass to eliminate the need to carry cash.
Do I have to wear a seat belt in the vehicle? Your safety is our utmost responsibility. Wearing a seat belt has been proven to reduce your risk of injury or death in an accident. Each seat on every bus has a seat belt. Wheelchair positions have seat belts and shoulder straps. It is always necessary to properly wear you seat belt.
