During 1991 Geauga Transit was awarded the "System of the Year" from the Ohio Department of Transportation. New vehicles were ordered and a conversion to an all diesel fleet began. Problems were being encountered with scheduling efficiencies and with the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1992, the demand for a new and improved method of service delivery was needed. A grant application was written and approved by ODOT to enable Geauga Transit to implement a development program to computerize dispatch and scheduling functions. Trapeze software was purchased in the fall of 1997 with implementation in 1998. Immediate results were dramatic. A new employee compensation package was developed that rewarded employees for longevity, education, safe driving. .and training.
